Giving Starts the Receiving Process

Philippians 4:17
Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.

When God spoke to Katherine to take her first mission trip to Russia, we didn’t have 10 cents to call our own. Down on our knees in prayer, we went in search of the answer to our financial need for her trip.

The Lord specifically spoke to Katherine to write three letters to businessmen we knew. Disappointingly, each one of them responded saying their businesses had come upon ‘hard times’ and they were sorry but they were not in a position to help financially. Katherine began to think she had missed the Lord by writing these letters to ask for their financial help until the day the Lord opened to her Philippians 4:17 and the words of the Apostle Paul regarding both giving AND receiving. Could it be that these letters were more than a simple plea to make a way for Katherine to take her first mission trip? Yes! That’s exactly what the Lord was endeavoring to do and isn’t that just like our Father?

The most foundational of spiritual laws in the Kingdom of God is the law of sowing and reaping. We believe our God-given work is good, fertile ground for your seed and that your giving opens the hand of God’s blessing upon your life. The letters Katherine wrote to these three businessmen were an opportunity for them not only to give but to also receive! Their gifts would open to them the gifts of God by releasing increase both to them and through them!
